HEALING THROUGH BROKENNESS
By Pastor Timothy Burdick

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” (Psalm 90:12)

The Christmas season is over, and I would venture to say that the Christmas spirit that we wanted is now gone. The New Years celebration has just passed, but many have already broken their word, broken their resolutions. Does this characterize a life of broken dreams for you?

If so, I would challenge you to look at your broken life in a new way, using the above verse. Number your days by giving each one of them to the Lord. Instead of living for things or resolutions, commit your life anew each day to Him. Rather than looking at the brokenness in your life as a loss, look at it as gain, for your failure can be a form of brokenness before Him.

It is only as you experience this yielding to Christ that the healing rivers of the Holy Spirit can flow in a new, more complete way, and as they do, you will begin to find His holiness. Through becoming open about your brokenness to Christ each day, you will experience the abundant life that Jesus spoke about.

Let me tell you how God has met me in this state of brokenness. It has only been a year since the love of my life, Susan, died. Not right at first but over time, I have begun to experience God's healing. But to experience this each day, I found that I need to continually give my grief to God. Will you join me in 2011 as we humble ourselves before the Lord and ask Him to change our hearts? Take your life in all its brokenness and lay it before the Lord, and let the previously empty void in your life become a blessing to others. Have a great New Year as He makes every day new.

Pastor Timothy.

A true friend is someone who reaches out for your hand and touches your Heart. "With God ALL things are possible" (Matthew 19:26). And remember that even though I am physically blind, I understand and trust that God who leads me can see better than any of us.
