This  is a word from Pastor Timothy Burdick, Minister of Abilities for Friday Study Ministries:

A Drink of Water

"A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give Me a drink" (John 4:7, NKJV)

Please read along with me in John 4, where the Samaritan woman came to draw water and Jesus asked her for that “drink” of water.

In this narrative we see the most human portrait of Jesus ever painted in the Gospels. Being hot and tired from a long journey, Jesus asked the Samaritan woman for a drink from the well that He sat by. But then being the Master Teacher that He is, the well water became a visual aid as He spoke to her of new "life" (John 4:14). Furthermore, Jesus contrasted the well water which would only refresh for a short time, to the living water of eternal life that He intended to give her. He offers the same water to you and me today. If you haven’t asked Him into your life, please pray from your heart, saying something like this: "Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned, but now I am coming to you to cleanse me and give me this living water, which will lead me to eternal life. Thank you for what you have already done. in Jesus Name. Amen."

But I believe that there is much more to this story than meets the eye. For just as He asked the Samaritan woman for a drink, through allowing her service which honors Him, He asks His followers today for much the same. He said in another place referring to a cup of cold water given in His Name, “inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me” (Matthew 25:40).

Therefore, whether you are coming to the living water for the first time, or have stood by watching His fountain of abundant life bubble up for many years, drinking only occasionally, let the words of Christ be a challenge to you today. Give Him a drink through your rededicated heart and your service to one another. Come to Him anew, and ask Him to open up new doors of opportunity to give in His Name. Going out as He leads, you can make a world of difference.
