THE HIGH CALLING
By Pastor Timothy Burdick
"Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you" (Philippians 3:13-15)
While the journey is tiring
And the storm clouds are black,
Help me hide in Your presence so I don't look back.
I can't make it without You, each day seems so long,
Give me mercy to trust You and sing a new song.
Help me only look forward and not to look back,
Pressing onward and upward, please keep me on track.
For emotions are fickle and worry is vain,
Help me give thanks dear Father
When my lips would complain.
Each day has its trouble but You are my prize.
Let me look at You only and focus my eyes.
Let me find my desire only in You.
Help me sit in Your presence as my heart You renew.
Help me only look forward and not to look back,
Pressing onward and upward, please keep me on track.
For emotions are fickle and worry is vain.
Help me give thanks dear Father when my lips would complain.
Help me grow in my trust Lord, for You are my shield,
And I see how You work things for good as I yield.
You have blessed me dear Jesus
With much more than I need,
I am only a pilgrim that follows Your lead.
Help me only look forward and not to look back,
Pressing onward and upward, please keep me on track.
For emotions are fickle and worry is vain,
Help me give thanks dear Father
When my lips would complain.
